On June 23, 2025, after 648 days of dedicated effort, the Fangxi Reservoir Water Diversion Tunnel in Linhai City was successfully completed. This milestone marks a major step forward in the city’s key livelihood project—the “West-to-East Water Diversion” initiative, which includes the construction of the water diversion tunnel, a water treatment plant, and a supply pipeline network.
The completed tunnel is 10.78 kilometers in length, built under complex geological conditions. The project includes a 240-meter drill-and-blast section and a 10.54-kilometer TBM section. The tunnel reaches a maximum depth of nearly 800 meters and a minimum of 29.4 meters, passing through high-strength welded tuff. The TBM, with a cutting diameter of 4.03 meters, was equipped with 18-inch single disc cutters, 17-inch center disc cutters—all supplied and maintained by Litian Heavy Industry.
As the TBM cutter contractor for the project, Litian not only delivered high-performance cutting tools, but also provided full technical support and maintenance services throughout the excavation process. In close cooperation with the project team, Litian helped overcome challenges such as extremely hard rock layers and sudden water inflow. The TBM achieved impressive results, including a record monthly advance of 719.21 meters and a maximum daily advance of 41.82 meters. With reliable product performance and professional on-site service, Litian earned high praise from the client and established itself as a trusted partner.
With the tunnel now completed, the construction of the water pipeline is set to accelerate. The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of this year. Once operational, it will deliver 36 million cubic meters of high-quality water annually to Linhai’s urban area, further optimizing the city’s water resource allocation and significantly enhancing water supply security.
This is the first one.
